Coca-Cola made a sweep in the Soft Drinks Category at the annually-anticipated Sunday Times Top Brand Awards held in Sandton on 26 August. In this category brand Coca-Cola ranked first, followed by Fanta and Sprite respectively. This is a big win for Fanta as last year the brand fell out of the top three and was a joint fourth with Sparletta.
The Sunday Times Top Brand Awards are held in honour of brands rated by users and non-users in the business and consumer sector, and The Top Brands Survey has become a coveted tool for marketers to gauge how their brands are performing in a tough economic climate.
This year Coca-Cola retained its position in the top three Overall Favourite Brands, coming a close second behind KOO. Following Coca-Cola in this category is KFC. We also received the Grand Prix award for CSI as the brand that does the most for the community, and we took home second place in the Environment Award behind Eskom. Coca-Cola’s creative agency, FCB, won Top Agency.
“Coca-Cola slipped into second place as Overall Favourite Brand by just half a percent!” said Sharon Keith. “But that doesn’t detract from the excellent work that our team has done this past year and I am extremely proud of everyone’s efforts.”
