Lagos, Nigeria; 23 February 2015: "Students of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science had a surprise matriculation gift last week as Coca-Cola stormed the campus with the Share a Coke activation. Hundreds of students, staff, parents and other well-wishers who were at the matriculation event could not believe their luck as they besieged the activation venue to get their own personalized Coke cans.

The college community thus became the first consumer group in Port Harcourt to savour the Share a Coke campaign which has continued to spread excitement across the country since it was launched in early January."

Thousands of students and guests stormed the school field on Thursday, 19th February, 2015 to be part of the historic event. It was the first time the institution would celebrate its matriculation day with such an event   .

Savouring a PET bottle of chilled Coke  given out freely to all consumers during the Share a Coke sampling process, Ololade Bamishaye, one of the matriculating students, expressed joy and applauded Coca-Cola for the innovative campaign.

“I am so happy that Coca-Cola actually brought Share a Coke to our school especially on our matriculation day. I have been hearing about this campaign and waiting for the day I will have my name on  a Coke bottle. For me, it is a wonderful experience and I am having a great time celebrating my matriculation day with a personalised   Coke .Consumers never had it so good in Nigeria, where we have a brand connecting personally with consumers  like what Coca-Cola is doing with the Share a Coke idea,” Ololade observed.

Mrs Olorunsola Johnson, a mother to one of the matriculating students who stood in line with her husband and children to get their customised Coke cans  described it is an experience that will remain one of her most exciting moments. “As a fan of Coca-Cola, I really enjoyed participating in this event today. My husband, children and I are very delighted to have our names printed on the Coke can. I must confess that this is a brilliant marketing campaign ,” she said.

For David Alibi, a 100 level Administration student, it was fun and memorable. He reckoned that it was one he had anticipated for a long time and it was much more exciting and realistic than he expected. He gave kudos to the brand for putting up such innovative campaign. “It is awesome having this experience today. We hope to see more of Share a Coke in our school, so that every time we want to drink Coke, we drink the one that has our name on it. Thanks to Coca-Cola Nigeria for bringing the Share a Coke experience to  consumers on campus,” he added.

Senior Brand Manager, Colas, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Gbolahan Sanni disclosed that Coca-Cola chose the institution’s matriculation to unveil the campaign there to encourage students to share happiness with friends and family on their special day so as to establish a bond among co-students.

“One of the main reasons why we launched Share a Coke is to give consumers the opportunity to share happiness with their loved ones – especially  on  special days.   This matriculation  at the Rivers State College of Arts and Science is a special occasion  and I am delighted that the students are having a great time with their family and friends. With the Share a Coke campaign, we want to further restate that we cherish consumers and  want to always be part of their happiness,” he concluded.
