Fanta recently hosted a teen-centric first reveal to media and influencers of the official Fanta Squad at an exciting preview at Nu Metro cinema in Johannesburg. The event was turned into a Fanta Zone that featured instagrammable nodes for all invited guests. Guests enjoyed the exclusive pre-screening of the first two episodes of The Fanta Squad YouTube series.
The edgy Fanta Squad episodes are stories created by teens for teens with moments of laughter, intrigue and epic adventure – all accessible on one channel. The Fanta Squad includes Fanta Teen Marketing Director, Thulasizwe Dambuza, affectionately known as ‘Lasizwe’, alongside local actor and comedian Siyabulela Deli better known as ‘TaFire’, adventure vlogger Matthew Menton and TV presenter Katlego Ncala.
The 13-week Fanta Squad show is available on the Fanta South Africa YouTube channel where a new episode is uploaded every Thursday at 4pm. Each episode will include action-packed, bitesize challenges and activities celebrating teen culture in uniquely teen ways. The challenges for the series are quirky and unconventional tasks which will be completed by The Fanta Squad. The episodes range from the Fanta Squad conquering their inner fears to spending a day as triplets.
About the teens:
Matthew Menton a 16-year-old vlogger from Johannesburg, describes himself as daring, bold and a fun guy who is always searching for the next thrill. From exploring the Kempton Park ‘haunted hospital’ to doing a 24-hour handcuff challenge with his best friend. His daring and bold videos keep his audience at the edge of their seats. He says, “Being part of the Fanta Squad was no different to what I usually vlog about, the only difference was I had The Squad to complete this with and was super fun.”
Siyabulela Deli also known as TaFire, in between acting, TaFire creates entertaining bitesize skits with an aim to spread more cheer. “Fanta Squad really was radical fun especially when I thought I would have an upper-hand for the rest of the Squad and the team proved to be a lot more competitive than me” he chuckles.
Fanta Teen Marketing Director, Lasizwe Dambuza said “OMG, we are so excited that Fanta is giving us an opportunity to be ourselves and still have fun whilst interacting with teens everywhere. This experience has helped me find my inner teen again.”
Viewers will have an opportunity to download the shows on the Fanta South Africa YouTube channel to view and share them again and again!
